General Dir. Welcome
General Director, Robert Grayson
Welcome to Opéra Louisiane — a company that emerged out of a dream in December 2006. With the encouragement and assistance of the renowned tenor, Paul Groves, and Beth Courtney of Louisiana Public Broadcasting, and with a remarkable nucleus of founding officers, the company incorporated in March 2007.
A vote of confidence from Baton Rouge Mayor President, Kip Holden, the Lt. Governor, Mitch Landrieu, along with support from the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, the Pennington Foundation, and the Arts Council of Baton Rouge, as well as the efforts and generosity of numerous individuals have enabled our success.
Now entering our fourth season, we are offering season tickets to three events:
Rossini's The Barber of Seville November 14, 2010 Baton Rouge River Center Theater
Chanson d'Amour featuring Daniela Mack and Alek Shrader February 12, 2011 Old State Capitol
Mozart's The Impresario and Constantinides' Rosanna March 13, 2011 LSU Shaver Theater
I hope you will take pride as we bring internationally recognized artists, present new productions, educate our children, and recognize the talent within our State. While a number of established opera companies have ceased operations during the past year, Opéra Louisiane has continued to present quality performances produced by cost-efficient management and carefully programmed growth. We invite you to become a subscriber and to join or renew your membership in Opéra Louisiane!
